Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in an interview with Welt am Sonntag, criticized the European Union’s policy toward Russia.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin managed to strengthen his country and make it a global player on the world stage.
“European policy towards Russia is bad, because it is too one-sided,” the Hungarian prime minister said.
He noted that in order to build productive relations with Moscow it is necessary to demonstrate both strength and readiness for cooperation, but according to Orban, the EU is focusing only on the first point.
The Prime Minister also lamented that Hungary in comparison with the major European countries has only a “conditional influence” on the decisions of the European Union.
